REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE
FERNANDES is a 23-metre schooner built in 1986 in Türkiye, and the scope YEKE Marine took on went to the structural core of the vessel: shell renewal, frame and beam strengthening, a rebuild of the bow section, and an iroko wood deck covering. Work at this level goes well beyond cosmetic repair, it addresses the parts of the hull that carry the vessel's structural loads.
The bow section, often the area under the most stress from years at sea, was rebuilt rather than patched, and the frames and beams were strengthened alongside the shell renewal so the hull's structural integrity was addressed as one connected system rather than isolated fixes. The iroko wood deck covering, a hardwood valued in classic yacht restoration for its durability and resistance to marine conditions, finished the work with a deck built to last.
The project was carried out at MMH Shipyard as part of FERNANDES's 2024 repair and maintenance programme.
