Challenge
M/V Mineral Dragon required installation of a 13-tonne AC-14 anchor, a high-holding-power stockless anchor type widely used on commercial vessels, together with a pocket of anchor chain, while the ship was in the Bosphorus Strait. Work of this kind inside the Bosphorus carries its own constraint beyond the mechanical task: the strait is one of the busiest waterways in the world, and any repair has to be completed within a window that does not obstruct passing traffic or extend the vessel's time off her schedule.
Approach
YEKE's anchorage repair team mobilised directly to the vessel rather than requiring her to move to a yard, and carried out the anchor and chain installation on site in the strait.
Outcome
The 13-tonne AC-14 anchor and its chain pocket were installed in 10 hours at the Bosphorus Strait, returning M/V Mineral Dragon to her schedule the same day.
