Challenge
Latina Pictures needed 7 modular pontoons fitted with a ballast system in Malta for filming the German television production Das Boot, on a tight production schedule where a delayed delivery would have held up filming itself. Floating film-set structures carry a different set of requirements from working commercial pontoons: they need to be stable and safe for cast and crew, adjustable in trim through the ballast system to match what the production needed on camera, and ready to assemble on location in Malta rather than at YEKE's own yard.
Approach
YEKE designed the ballast-equipped modular pontoons, produced all 7 units, and shipped them to Malta to meet the production's schedule.
Outcome
All 7 pontoon units were delivered to Malta within 6 weeks of the order, on time for the production's filming schedule.
